In the meantime, I love acoustic guitars and found these pics on Pinterest with some great artistic ideas.  Enjoy.....

Playin' With My Gelli Plate

It's been several weeks since I last posted.  I recently got a promotion at work and my hours have also changed, so I've been pretty busy.

I thought I would post some of my art play with my Gelli plate.  I encourage you to try it out--it's really easy and lots of fun!

My Bible Study Journal

I liked my prayer journal so much that I decided to buy another organizer and make it into a study journal.  I again used a Flavia Day Timer organizer.  This time I bought it in blue--it's such a pretty blue color.

I took out most of the pages to use them in my prayer journal, so I'm not wasting any paper or money. I then bought some lined paper in the appropriate size and punched extra holes in them with my Crop-A-Dial.  I also added some dividers, washi tape and such.  I used some restraint for this one, because my inclination is to embellish it to the max.

Have a great week!

XOXO

My Recent Art Play

As you know I've been experimenting with "kiddie art".  I really enjoy the freedom it gives me and I'm trying to find my own style.  Since I am by nature a perfectionist making this type of art is a challenge for me.  However, I know that getting out of my comfort zone will produce growth.

These are a few works I experimented with in the order I created them.  I think I'm getting a better feel for what is "me".  I'll keep playing and just let my "muse" take me where it wants to go.

More Filofax Organizers

I had gone borderline manic buying Filofax organizers.  Within the first two weeks I heard about Filofax I had ordered three (3) personal size Filofax organizers.  I originally wanted a Malden and will probably get it before the year ends.

However, since then I have bought other brands of organizers.  As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I had been using organizers for a long time, and I buy what I like no matter what brand it is.

I do have to say that I have recently been discouraged from purchasing Filofax since I can't always get what I want because it's been discontinued.  Hopefully the Malden won't be discontinued by the time I am ready to purchase it.

Anyway, I find collecting organizers lots of fun.  My rationalization for collecting them is, I change my purse many times during the year, why not my organizer?  Hey, I can have one for every season!

These were my latest two Filofax acquisitions......aren't they yummy?!

My Prayer Journal

I want to share my new prayer journal with you.  I was originally going to use a Filofax A5 Domino in Violet and had been waiting two weeks for it.  Then I was informed that it was discontinued (bummer.....)  I also have another Filofax on order and the vendor says they don't have the shipment yet, and it has been almost three weeks (I'm finding that most of the Filofax's I want are not available.)   So,  I went to Office Max and bought a Flavia Day Timer in a raspberry pink and made it into a prayer journal--such a yummy color!  It's really soft and cushy too--I'm really enjoying it.

The only thing I would say against it is that you might want to be a bit careful with it, since it looks like the vinyl it's made of is a little delicate.  Since I don't plan to take it out with me that won't be a problem.  I like it so much I will definitely buy another one in a different color (especially if they make it in leather--wishful thinking here.)  I used the pages of the calendar and also added some lined paper.  I then looked on You Tube for some additional inspiration and this is the end result.

My Little Butterfly

As some of you may know God gifted us (hubby & I) two years ago, with a beautiful grand-niece. I can't believe it's been that long already.  Anyway, today my mom brought her over for the first time.  Of course we spent a good time in my art studio finger painting.  Here are a few pics I took of my "mariposita" (translation: little butterfly).   My mom held her while I took the pics.

Her beautiful artwork is proudly displayed in my kitchen.  She will probably be an artist like her auntie--don't you think? lol

Another Book Read

This is the latest book I've read.  I found this little book at the Dollar Tree.  It's called Noonie's Masterpiece by Lisa Railsback.  This is a cute little story about a 10 year old girl who believes she is an artist and is just waiting to be "discovered."  She takes you into her world filled with humor, imagination and a corky personality.  If you are an artist, you will simply adore this little book.

My Art Travel Bag

I have had my art travel bag for a while now and thought it would be fun to share what I have in it and maybe give you some ideas.

This is my art travel bag Stacey--(I know, I give everything a name--lol).  I'm on the lookout for one that can snap on the outside instead of the inside as I tend to over stuff it--I luv a juicy overstuffed art bag!

In my bag I have the following:
  • decorative ribbon, fabric tape, washi tape
  • needles and decorative thread
  • scissors
  • ephemera, stickers, stamps, rub-ons
  • mini ink pad
  • sharpie color markers, white poster paint marker
  • brushes, spatula, craft stick for mixing and blending, make-up sponges
  • mini tubs of acrylic paint, glitter paint
  • liquid paint extender
  • Karat Aquarelle watercolor crayons , watercolor pencils, watercolor Yasutomo glitter paints
  • mini spritzer filled with water, empty vial for mixing, empty GUM toothpick container for mixing
  • labeled mini container of acrylic glaze, labeled mini container of gesso, labeled mini container of acrylic medium
  • eraser, pencil sharpener, mini blending stick in mini plastic bag
  • pack of small letter stamps
  • permanent glue stick, glue dots, Tombo liquid glue, Zig 2 way glue pen
I hope that if you haven't made one up yet this inspires you to make one up--it was so much fun putting all this together.  I really enjoy picking up my art bag filled chock full of yummy art candy and rummaging through it to see what goodies I could find.
